We’re engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, recycling, treating and disposing of produced water for our customers. In our capacity as a natural gas processor, we also buy and sell natural gas, NGLs, and condensate on our behalf and our customers under certain gas processing contracts.

Job Summary
The Water Field Tech is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of saltwater disposal facilities. This role includes monitoring injection wells, operating pumps and pipelines, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all activities comply with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.


Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor saltwater disposal wells, pumps, tanks, and associated equipment
  • Inject produced water in accordance with permit limits and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor pressures, flow rates, volumes, and temperatures to ensure safe operations
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, pipelines, valves, and meters
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, motors, and equipment
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, injection volumes, and pressure records
  • Collect water samples and assist with testing as required
  • Respond to alarms, spills, leaks, or operational upsets in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with production, trucking, and field operations personnel
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies
  • Maintain housekeeping at SWD locations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–3 years of experience in oilfield operations, SWD, or water handling (preferred)
  • Knowledge of injection wells, pumps, and basic mechanical systems (preferred)
  • Understanding of oil & gas safety practices and environmental regulations (preferred)
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, and basic schematics (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.

Travel Requirements

  • The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 10%.

Work Schedule

  • This position utilizes a 8/6 schedule that could require working overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • WES reserves the right to change employee’s schedule if it is required by operations.
  • Candidate must live within 75 miles of Carlsbad, NM.
