Western Midstream is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.

We operate or own equity interests in assets in the Rocky Mountains, North-central Pennsylvania, and Texas, including approximately 16,000 miles of petroleum and natural gas pipelines and over 100 gathering, treating, and processing facilities.

Job Summary:

This Facility Engineering position will provide asset surveillance, troubleshooting and optimization support to operating Midstream assets.  Experience working with Operations, HSSE, and Project Engineering to solve operational challenges as well as enhance the value of the asset is highly desirable.  Experience utilizing, process simulation, and compression modeling software is highly desirable. This position will be based in Gillette, Wyoming or Longmont, Colorado.

 

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of applicable engineering experience in the areas of day-to-day operations, design, and construction as it applies to oil gathering, treating, and stabilization facilities, natural gas processing, and gas gathering and compression operations.   
  • A working knowledge of industry codes and standards, environmental regulations, and safety regulations is beneficial.
  • Strong background in plant/facility operations support, including operational troubleshooting and process optimization is beneficial.
  • A working knowledge of process safety management principals and application of various process safety management elements.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and formulate conclusions/recommendations from various sources of process data.
  • Experience with process modeling software such as UniSim, Hysys, ProMax, Protreat, or VMGsim.
  • Proficiency with standard office software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Strong communication and team building skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor asset performance, identifying opportunities to optimize throughput, product recovery, energy consumption, operating cost, and minimize emissions. 
  • Develop and apply process simulation models for to evaluate performance and establish a basis for improvement. 
  • Maintain an ‘opportunity’ portfolio which lists and prioritizes potential improvement projects. 
  • Progress prioritized opportunities such that a viable solution is developed, budgetary criteria is achieved, and the opportunity is approved as project.
  • Develop project execution plans for approved projects as part of handover to project execution team.
  • Provide engineering support to greenfield and brownfield project design, execution, and post appraisals. 
  • Provide engineering support to Operations, including support of the Process Safety Management Program.
  • Assist Operations with diagnosis of operational difficulties, providing recommendations for corrective action.
  • Manage engineering vendors/contractors as necessary to ensure optimum project execution within project scope.

 

Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree required; Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

 

Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

 

Certifications/Licenses:

None required, EIT or PE are a plus.

 

Travel Requirements:

The percentage of travel required for this position is 20-30%.  This includes travel to the field in Rock Springs Wyoming.

 

Work Schedule:

This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.

 

*The pay range for this position in Colorado annually is $97,700 - $161,600; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
