Western Midstream is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.

We operate or own equity interests in assets in the Rocky Mountains, North-central Pennsylvania, and Texas, including approximately 16,000 miles of petroleum and natural gas pipelines and over 100 gathering, treating, and processing facilities.

IOC Operator - DJ Basin


Job Summary
The IOC Operator will interface between Midstream, Marketing, and Upstream E&P companies to optimize the entire gas system while meeting the marketing nominations set forth. The IOC Operator will be required to be DOT certified and adhere to all PHMSA CRM regulations. This position is in Western Midstream’s Rockies Region as a member of the DJ Basin Midstream IOC Ops Team in Platteville, CO.


  • Minimum 1 year experience in oil and gas production operations preferred
  • Have worked in or been around a control room
  • Understand basics of Midstream operations: Maintenance, Compression, Plants and Gas Qualities, Hauling
  • Understand basics of gas marketing and terminology
  • Critical thinking and communication skills
  • Computer skills and the ability to understand new programs
  • Critical thinking and communication skills
  • Pipeline Flow understanding is preferred
  • Understanding the basic well operations


  • Carry out communication between all parties that use the system with an unbiased approach
  • Optimize and maintain the system per its design
  • Understand how the system reacts to upsets, how it recovers, how it affects upstream, and how they recover
  • Be able to effectively collect, store, query, and reflect on data to help optimize the operations
  • Be able to do maintenance scheduling and understand how it affects the system
  • Have the ability to have effective communication with multiple teams to augment the system for the best
  • Work with third parties to help mitigate their issues with our system
  • Be able to understand pipeline synergies and what you can do with flow down pipelines
  • Understanding of Scada system type remote computer controlling
  • Be able to work in a control room environment and deal with multiple distractions
  • Have the ability and confidence to make decisions and to back your decisions with data/reasoning
  • Understanding gas marketing operations and to be able to help them with meeting the nominations set forth that day
  • Adhere with operating parameters and safety guidelines are followed
  • Be able to output concise, productive reports on different time intervals (weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.)
  • Innovate to help streamline the processes that you could do day after day and that could help the systems efficiencies
  • Manage/document incidents in the field that affect the gas system
  • Work with other teams to solve the issues timely and safely
  • Flexibility to absorb new task and responsibilities 



High school diploma or equivalent required.

Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.


This position is not eligible for domestic relocation.
Successful candidate must live within 50 miles of Platteville, CO.


Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 10%.



Work Schedule
This position works a 12-hour shift and must be available to work day/night shift rotations, overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed by business.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $39.40 - $46.35; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
