Job Summary

Western Midstream is looking for an Environmental Advocacy and Compliance Advisor as a member of the Western Midstream (WES) Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Team. This position is located in The Woodlands, TX. The position will provide air quality advocacy and compliance support assistance for assets in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and Wyoming state rulemaking procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with federal rulemaking procedures
  • In depth understanding of the oil and gas midstream sector and air quality and environmental state and federal compliance requirements
  • Experience participating in industry trade organizations and committees
  • Experience developing and implementing compliance programs
  • Experience and understanding of the Environmental reporting for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives
  • Experience participating in Air Quality and Environmental studies
  • Ability to work with the Operations teams with developing financial and operation impacts from regulatory changes
  • Must communicate effectively with operations/technical staff, legal counsel, executive level management, and regulatory agency personnel
  • Proficient technical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead federal and state air quality and environmental rulemaking changes
  • Attend applicable air quality and environmental trade organization meetings, sit on committees and participate in workgroups and contribute to trade committee work
  • Determine compliance tasks and support implementation from new rulemaking
  • Communicate updates and assist with compliance development for new requirements
  • Keep current on legislation and future rulemaking efforts that could impact the ESG, Air Quality and Environmental programs and communicate efforts to internal teams
  • Assist with WES’s participation in relevant academic studies related to Air Quality and Environmental focus areas
  • Develop financial, operational, and emissions impacts from regulatory changes
  • Assist the Air Quality and Environmental Teams with rule change implementations
  • Communicate and update internal teams

 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Environmental Science, Engineering, Science or industry related field. Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

License / Certifications

Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required.

Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 10-20%.

Work Schedule
This position is eligible for the 5/40 work schedule or 9 hours Monday – Thursday and 4 hours on Friday.
