Job Summary:
In your new role, you will be responsible for providing Automation Engineering support for the design and implementation of control systems, within capital projects on new/existing midstream facilities. The engineer will assist with design, implementation, and optimization of these control systems. They will participate in technical reviews, manage third-party contractors, review engineering packages, and support commissioning while also helping to develop and maintain Automation Engineering corporate standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in the design, implementation, and optimization of control systems within midstream oil, gas and water processing facilities
- Experience reviewing facility and control system drawings (P&ID’s, IO List, C&E, etc.)
- Experience in the commissioning/startup of midstream facilities
- Strong organization, communication and people skills required
- Project management experience preferable, including managing 3rd party contractors
- Highly proficient in desktop applications, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Bluebeam, etc.)
- High level of knowledge of natural gas processing and process control
- Strong troubleshooting skills/experience
- Strong working knowledge of NEC code, API RP 500, applicable regulations surrounding electrical power and instrumentation systems in the Oil &Gas industry
- High level of expertise in industry standard control systems, specifically Allen Bradley PLCs & Emerson Delta V DCS highly desirable.
- Experience with Emerson ROC and ABB Totalflow RTU’s
- Working experience with HMI software, including but not limited to Cygnet, Ignition, Wonderware, and RS View/FactoryTalk View
- Experience with implementing control strategies commonly utilized in gas treating/compression facilities, including PID control loops, motor controls, alarm management and advanced controls
- Working experience with Instrumentation, including but not limited to flow meters, analyzers, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Support engineering/project managers in the design/construction/commissioning of control systems within midstream facilities by embedding into projects, attending weekly meetings/reviews, answering questions and making sure WES guidelines/standards are being implemented on all projects
- Participation in technical reviews and provide technical support to other company departments
- Work with other WES teams and execute workflows to make sure all aspects of control systems are functioning including, IT, SCADA, Measurement, Air Quality, Security and our PI Historian teams
- Support developing corporate standards, including but not limited to hardware, software, instrumentation and safety
- Manage 3rd party contractors/integrators in the development and execution of control systems including budgets and schedules
- Review of 3rd party contractor engineering packages, providing comments/redlines as needed for all disciplines of a project
- Effectively communicating with third party vendors and maintaining a good rapport
- Communicate with all project teams on control system schedule, design implications and needs for seamless integration with all systems
- Support commissioning team and Remote Operating Center as needed
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred but not required. Other engineering degrees will be considered with appropriate experience. Title and compensation will be based on experience level.

Travel Requirements:
- Travel to field locations or other WES company office locations required (higher or lower for specific time periods depending on work tasks and projects). The percentage of travel required for this position is 10 - 20%
Work Schedule:
- This position will work 9-hour days, Monday – Thursday and 4 hours on Friday, with the option of working Wednesday and Friday remotely.
