Western Midstream is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.

Our core assets provide services for customers in the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, and the DJ Basin in northeastern Colorado. Additional assets and investments are located in South Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. 

Job Summary:

This role offers the opportunity to join a team that will help tackle one of the industry’s biggest challenges—produced water—while creating a sustainable water source for an arid region to support local communities and economies.  We’re driving innovation through advanced water treatment technologies and pioneering brine mining techniques to extract valuable metals and minerals, strengthening domestic supply chains. We’re seeking a teammate who demonstrates strong commitment, innovative problem-solving, and a passion for excellence. In this role, you will help advance the beneficial reuse of produced water through end-user development, communications strategy creation and execution, building technology and commercial partnerships, and supporting government relations to secure regulatory approvals for treated produced water. This position is based out of The Woodlands, TX. 

 

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in a business development role or similar experience
  • Ability to travel as needed to achieve results
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to relate at all levels and to all stakeholders
  • Strong management skills to keep commercial initiatives on track
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Strong commitment to achieving objectives, good problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented work ethic
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, for analysis and presentation preparation

Responsibilities:

  • Support defining products for sale created from treating produced water for beneficial reuse and brine mining
  • Analyze value chains for beneficial reuse water and critical metals and minerals to determine the best strategies for sale
  • Conduct in-depth market research to expand on existing lead generation efforts
  • Negotiate and close contracts with end users of treated produced water for beneficial reuse and brine mining products
  • Establish partnerships from technology to commercial to support creation, sale, and delivery of beneficial reuse produced water products
  • Work in close collaboration with the commercial team on the above points to ensure alignment and optimum commercial outcomes
  • Support development and execution of a broad communications strategy engaging all stakeholders to achieve the alignment needed for beneficial reuse of produced water
    • Stakeholders include internal stakeholders, shareholders, regulators and government bodies, local communities, and potential partners and end users
  • Working in coordination with Western Midstream’s Water’s regulatory group, support government relations in both Texas and New Mexico through participation in agency and working group meetings as needed. Communicate our approach to treating produced water and relevant data

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant engineering, business economics or related field. MBA preferred. Grade and salary commensurate with relevant education and experience.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel of up to 50% is required for this role
     

Work Schedule:

  • This is a hybrid position that will work 9 hours Monday – Thursday and 4 hours on Friday.
