Our core assets provide services for customers in the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, and the DJ Basin in northeastern Colorado, and the Powder River Basin in Northeast Wyoming. Additional assets and investments are located in South Texas, Utah, and Southwest Wyoming.

We’re engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, recycling, treating and disposing of produced water for our customers. In our capacity as a natural gas processor, we also buy and sell natural gas, NGLs, and condensate on our behalf and our customers under certain gas processing contracts.

Job Summary:

The Manager, Commercial Operations supports midstream commercial and scheduling activities across Western Midstream operated assets. This role executes day-to-day commercial operations, leads a team of schedulers or analysts, and partners closely with Field Operations and Resource Operations Center, Accounting, Commercial Development, and Marketing to ensure accurate nominations, allocations, imbalance management, and contract compliance. The Manager reports to the Director of Commercial Operations and serves as a key operational leader in driving reliable execution and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily commercial operations and scheduling execution across assigned assets, ensuring accurate and timely nominations, confirmations, and allocations.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop commercial operations staff, including workload prioritization, training, and performance management.
  • Manage day-to-day imbalance and OBA activity; investigate, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies with internal partners, producers, and pipelines.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, tariff, and governance requirements related to scheduling, record retention, and auditability.
  • Partner with Field Operations to align system set-points, operational constraints, and nominations with commercial priorities.
  • Support month-end close activities, including accruals, billing inputs, reconciliations, and issue resolution with Accounting and Measurement.
  • Prepare operational and commercial reporting (actuals vs. forecast, imbalances, exceptions) and escalate risks or issues as appropriate.
  • Support outage planning, new well connections, system changes, and commercial events to ensure scheduling readiness and execution.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, standard work development, and automation/digital enhancements within Commercial Operations.
  • Provide after-hours or on-call leadership support as needed for time-sensitive commercial and operational issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in midstream scheduling, commercial operations, gas/NGL/crude logistics, or a related function.
  • 2+ years of people leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of midstream contracts, tariffs, imbalance management, and scheduling best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel and commercial operations systems (e.g., Cygnet, EMK3, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in time-sensitive operational environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, Accounting, Marketing, and Commercial teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Work Schedule:

  • This position follows a hybrid schedule with flexibility to support operational needs, including after-hours support when required.
