Western Midstream is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.

We operate or own equity interests in assets in the Rocky Mountains, North-central Pennsylvania, and Texas, including approximately 16,000 miles of petroleum and natural gas pipelines and over 100 gathering, treating, and processing facilities.

Job Summary:

Western Midstream is seeking a systems engineer to join our team in The Woodlands, TX. As a systems engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and maintaining innovative data and analytical systems that support our Operational data endeavors. Your expertise will not only shape the landscape of our operations but also accelerate us towards our ambitious business goals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and optimize the systems and operational data lifecycle, from data acquisition, integration, and transformation, ensuring data quality and consistency
  • Participate in designing, implementing, and maintaining projects that provide operational intelligence based on the historians and cloud offerings
  • Support and develop solutions in AVEVA PI System and Asset Framework including Analysis, Event Framework, and Notifications
  • Implement measures to ensure the quality and integrity of data, including data cleaning, validation, and error handling within data pipelines
  • Employ programming languages like C#, PowerShell, and Python for automation and scripting tasks
  • Work closely with data scientists, developers, and engineers to provide data necessary for custom applications, visualizations, and analytic models
  • Develop and lead training sessions to stakeholders based on data platforms and tooling

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years implementing and maintaining historian systems (Aveva PI preferred, AF SDK development a plus)
  • Experience in working with various data sources, formats, and platforms, such as relational databases (Oracle and Microsoft SQL), Knowledge Graphs, Master Data Systems, Asset Registries, Azure services, and SCADA systems
  • Experience maintaining in-house developed and vendor-supplied applications and systems as relating to upgrades, backups, ensuring capability across components, and monitoring
  • Moderate experience with SQL and either C#, PowerShell, or Python languages
  • Experience using and configuring DevOps tooling for deployment and version control
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with developers and stakeholders supporting requirements gathering

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information science, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel will be required up to 5%.

 

Work Schedule:

  • This position will work 9 hours Monday through Thursday with 4 hours on Friday and will require Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at The Woodlands office.
