Our core assets provide services for customers in the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, and the DJ Basin in northeastern Colorado, and the Powder River Basin in Northeast Wyoming. Additional assets and investments are located in South Texas, Utah, and Southwest Wyoming.

We’re engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, recycling, treating and disposing of produced water for our customers. In our capacity as a natural gas processor, we also buy and sell natural gas, NGLs, and condensate on our behalf and our customers under certain gas processing contracts.

Job Summary:

This position, based in The Woodlands, supports the Delaware Basin Land Team by acquiring and managing surface, water, and right‑of‑way interests necessary for midstream operations across Texas and New Mexico. The role requires a seasoned land professional with strong negotiation, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to independently manage complex land agreements while collaborating closely with internal technical, operational, and regulatory stakeholders. Success in this role depends on building strong relationships with landowners and government agencies while efficiently supporting development projects in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of successful oil and gas land management experience is required
  • Goal and solution-oriented with the ability to remain flexible, motivated, and focused during times of changing priorities and compressed project deadlines
  • Strong negotiation, conflict-management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently of others with limited supervision; will perform routine tasks individually or complex assignments within a group; easily adaptable for working on multiple project teams as an individual contributor or in a leadership role
  • Knowledge and understanding of TX and NM state and local O&G and land use rules and regulations
  • PC proficiency; experienced use with Microsoft Suite of products to include Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Knowledge of and ability to draft written agreements, apply for permits, and draft varied rights-granting documents in compliance with company guidelines and procedures
  • Strong self-organization and time management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with landowners and governmental agencies

 

Responsibilities:

  • Acquires land rights and develops contacts to promote midstream activities in newly identified exploration project areas
  • Negotiates and acquires all surface and water rights associated with midstream operations including surface leases, right-of-way agreements, surface use agreements, disposal agreements, etc.
  • Engages in legal research on acreage to determine burdens and encumbrances on the surface. Works cooperatively with internal counterparts in Regulatory, Operations, Construction, Engineering, Geology, HSE, Midstream, etc. to build comprehensive plans for development of Western’s Delaware Basin assets.
  • Coordinates with various local, state and federal regulatory bodies and agencies, municipalities and other governmental agencies having jurisdiction in Texas and New Mexico as required to support project requirements

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

 

Relocation:

  • This position may be eligible for domestic relocation.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 10%.

 

Work Schedule:

  • This is a hybrid position that will work 9 hours Monday – Thursday and 4 hours on Friday.
