Job Summary:

Western Midstream is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager, Planning & Subsurface Engineering to join our Planning & Execution team in The Woodlands, Texas. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of Planning Engineers and overseeing subsurface and geotechnical engineering activities.

 

The successful candidate will be accountable for early-phase project planning, including scope development, routing, estimating, and risk assessment. In parallel, this role will lead subsurface and geotechnical engineers to support new and existing infrastructure for Western Midstream’ s produced water disposal program.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in midstream or upstream oil and gas project planning and geotechnical engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing technical personnel or cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas facility and pipeline design, including gathering systems, compression, and treating
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS or similar spatial data tools
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support Planning Engineers responsible for early-phase development of pipeline and facility projects
  • Manage and direct geotechnical activities
  • Review geotechnical reports and integrate findings into engineering and construction plans
  • Oversee preparation of early project scopes, estimates, flow diagrams, and routing
  • Collaborate with project managers, operations, commercial, and permitting teams to align plans with business objectives
  • Contribute to capital forecasting and project prioritization through high-quality early-phase deliverables

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemica, Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related Engineering discipline required.
  • Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10% travel to field locations as needed.

 

Work Schedule:

  • This position is eligible for the 9/80 hybrid work schedule (4 9-hour days and half-day Fridays). The schedule also includes working physically in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and from home on Wednesday and Friday
