Job Summary:
Western Midstream seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join its Engineering Technical Services organization located in The Woodlands, Texas office. This position will provide Mechanical Engineering expertise to Midstream Project Execution teams on capital projects as well as to Field Operations on troubleshooting and optimization of existing facilities located in Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. This position will work closely with field staff and consulting engineers to support projects.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering. Oil and Gas experience preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge and application of Industry Standards applicable to Mechanical equipment including but not limited to ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API Standards for rotating equipment, heat exchangers, tanks and fired equipment.
- Experience in the application and specification of mechanical equipment including but not limited to rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, blowers, fans), pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, and piping systems.
- Experience in the evaluation of mechanical equipment for suitability for service including the development and oversight of repair plans.
- Ability to evaluate rotating equipment performance and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
- Experience leading and / or participating in failure analysis.
- Must be able to work effectively with both engineers and operations personnel.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and independently.
Responsibilities:
- Front end engineering support to include mechanical equipment application recommendations and specification.
- Support capital project execution including an ability to lead/direct consultants and others related to project issues.
- Assist in field construction support as required.
- Support operations with troubleshooting, optimization, and repair of mechanical equipment
- Evaluate mechanical equipment for suitability for service.
- Champion the development and maintenance of WES Engineering Standards.
- Review and approve technical recommendations of internal Engineers and Engineering Contractors
Education:
- Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering required.
Certification/Licenses:
- Professional Engineering license, (TX and CO), is preferred but not required.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel will be required 25% on average, but peaks may be higher depending on workload.
Work Schedule:
- This position will work 9 hours Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in an office environment and remotely 9 hours on Wednesday and 4 hours on Friday.
