Our core assets provide services for customers in the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, and the DJ Basin in northeastern Colorado, and the Powder River Basin in Northeast Wyoming. Additional assets and investments are located in South Texas, Utah, and Southwest Wyoming.

We’re engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, recycling, treating and disposing of produced water for our customers. In our capacity as a natural gas processor, we also buy and sell natural gas, NGLs, and condensate on our behalf and our customers under certain gas processing contracts.

Job Summary:

Western Midstream seeks a Power Manager to join the Business Services organization located in The Woodlands, TX office.  This position is responsible for managing the Company’s power portfolio across midstream operations, including procurement strategy, cost optimization, regulatory alignment, and development of power infrastructure and generation solutions supporting business growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Company’s power portfolio by monitoring electricity consumption, costs and forward curves to set budget guidance and develop power procurement strategy and behind the meter power generation strategy
  • Oversee the Company’s joint venture interest in a Delaware Basin electrical distribution system, ensuring alignment with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Negotiate and administer power retail agreements and third party-power management/QSE agreements
  • Act as primary point of contact with electricity retailers, utilities and energy management consultants, and other external stakeholders.
  • Identify and advance power generation opportunities including evaluating commercial structures and market demand near Company’s infrastructure
  • Coordinate the submission of new load requests with utilities and expedite connection
  • Review Company owned electricity infrastructure inspections and advise on maintenance and/or repair of assets to improve power quality
  • Manage the Company’s power hedge positions and demand response participation to optimize costs and mitigate market risk.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of experience managing power procurement, energy markets or related advisory roles.
  • Deep understanding of ERCOT market structure, pricing mechanisms and co-op contracts
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contacts with energy management consultants, regulatory agencies, electricity retailers and utilities
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities related to energy costs and market trends.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel will be required up to 10%.

 

Work Schedule:

  • This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.
