Western Midstream is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.

Our core assets provide services for customers in the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, and the DJ Basin in northeastern Colorado. Additional assets and investments are located in South Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. 

Job Summary:

Western Midstream seeks a Project Manager to join the Engineering & Construction team located in The Woodlands, Texas office. The position will manage the design and execution of pipeline projects being built in West Texas. Experience managing upstream or midstream capital projects is required. While the role will initially be focused on pipeline projects, there will be potential to manage facility projects as workload and skillset allows. The ideal candidate for this position will be capable of self-performing all of the engineering work required to design pipeline systems while also having experience managing contractors performing the same work.

 

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant work experience with upstream or midstream pipeline capital projects; unconventional shale experience is preferred
  • Program or project management of high volume, short cycle well connect and gathering pipeline projects is a plus
  • A high degree of familiarity with, and knowledge of, the design and construction of gathering pipeline systems and measurement. A fundamental knowledge of production, compression, pumping, treating, processing, and produced water disposal facilities is a plus
  • Thorough familiarity with industry codes and standards for pipeline, measurement, and production facilities as well as applicable local, state, and Federal regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership in Occupational and Process Safety principles and their application to design and installation of pipeline and/or production facilities.
  • Ability to prepare and validate cost and schedule estimates
  • Basic knowledge of screening level economic analyses
  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing project management techniques and best practices
  • Competency in tracking project cost and schedule performance and progress; previous experience implementing earned value performance management a plus
  • Proficiency with standard office software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Technically proficient and self-motivated with creative problem-solving skills to accomplish tasks within a team environment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards and environmental and safety regulations

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the initial scoping of pipelines required to produce new wells, including required supporting infrastructure such as gas, oil, and produced water pipelines
  • Perform initial desktop routing of proposed pipelines, and interface with engineering contractors on final designs
  • Prepare preliminary capital expenditure estimates, schedule estimates, and economic justifications
  • Generate preliminary design requirements, including fabrication requirements and line pipe specifications
  • Prepare conceptual designs including pipeline process flow diagrams, routing schematics, and isometric sketches with preliminary bill of materials
  • Coordinate pipeline routing and facility siting efforts with company and contractor staff in the field
  • Prepare and check pipeline engineering calculations including pipe stress, hydrotests, directional drill pull stress, and road crossings
  • Manage contractor development of detailed engineering deliverables. Review and approve final documents including fabrication drawings and alignment sheets
  • Interface with operations and construction to ensure design is operable and constructible
  • Participate in contractor selection process and prepare and issue construction packages to initiate construction
  • Track construction progress and provide periodic schedule updates to stakeholders
  • Track incurred and forecasted cost vs authorized funding and submit supplements, as necessary
  • Support the preparation of monthly accruals and forecasts for all managed projects
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) process
  • Engage with contractors to promote Anadarko’s safety culture and ensure everyone goes home safe every day
  • Identify and implement pipeline team workflow process improvements to enhance stakeholder communication, streamline repeatable tasks, reduce rework, and improve process safety
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of pipeline cost estimating tools
  • Support updating and maintaining pipeline program design bases for carbon steel oil and gas lines and HDPE water lines
  • Commit and take action to make sure every employee and contractor goes home safe every day

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering; Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical preferred, other disciplines may be considered with appropriate experience.

*Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience

 

Certification/Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.

  

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel will be required up to 25%. Most travel will be to field locations in the Permian Basin in West Texas.

 

Work Schedule:

  • This position will work 9 hours Monday – Thursday and 4 hours on Friday. This position will be hybrid. Must have the ability to work from home while accessing corporate IT systems remotely.
