Job Summary
Western Midstream is seeking a Security Manager to join our Health, Safety, Environment and Security team in The Woodlands, TX. Security is a critical function at WES, protecting our employees, contractors, and physical assets across a growing midstream footprint.
The Manager, Security will lead a team of security professionals and own the enterprise physical security program across all WES assets. The role operates at both strategic and operational levels: setting and enforcing program standards, managing security risk across remote and staffed facilities, and providing a protective services program. The ideal candidate brings deep physical security expertise, experience working in or alongside energy or industrial operations, and the leadership capability to build and evolve programs in a growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
- Own and continuously evolve a risk-based enterprise physical security program across all WES assets, ensuring alignment with applicable federal and state regulations.
- Develop, enforce, and periodically review security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities relevant to midstream operations and translate findings into actionable risk mitigation strategies.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, develop, and manage a team of security professionals, including hiring, coaching and development, and workforce planning.
- Communicate security risk posture, program updates, and incident summaries to senior and executive leadership.
- Develop and manage the security department budget, including staffing, capital projects, and contracted services.
- Coordinate with internal partners and stakeholders to ensure security programs are integrated and effective across functions.
Asset & Physical Security
- Oversee physical protection programs for remote and staffed midstream operations, including access control, surveillance, and perimeter security.
- Conduct and manage facility security assessments and vulnerability analyses consistent with industry and internal standards.
- Implement and maintain physical security systems and technologies; manage vendor and contractor relationships for security projects.
- Coordinate internal compliance reviews for facility security and government regulatory requirements.
Incident Management & Analytics
- Ensure effective response, investigation, and reporting of security incidents across the enterprise.
- Maintain incident logs, analyze trends, and drive risk reduction initiatives based on findings.
- Provide security awareness training to employees and contractors.
Protective Services
- Provide a risk-based protective services program for company events and senior employees.
Emergency Preparedness
- Support Business Continuity and Emergency Response planning, contributing security expertise to enterprise preparedness efforts.
- Contract and manage specialized security services as needed.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- 10+ years of progressive physical security experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including experience working in or directly supporting energy, oil and gas, or industrial operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading security teams of 10 or more professionals.
- Familiarity with TSA Pipeline Security Guidelines and API RP 780 Security Risk Assessment methodology.
- Prior experience with protective services and post-acquisition asset integration preferred.
Certifications
The following certifications are preferred but not required:
- CPP (Certified Protection Professional) — ASIS International
Licenses & Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions preventing operation of a company vehicle.
- Ability to travel 25–50%.
- Hybrid schedule: Monday–Thursday (9-hour days) and Friday (4-hour day).
