Sr Reliability Engineer

Job Summary:
Supports the development of Reliability Engineering organization and programs for Western Midstream. The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining systems and processes to assess, monitor, and continuously improve equipment reliability across Gathering Systems (includes pipelines and compression), Gas and Oil Processing Plants, Product Pipelines (Gas, Oil, NGLs), and Saltwater Disposal Systems (Gathering, Processing, and Disposal), primarily in the field of Rotating Equipment. The position is based in The Woodlands, providing Reliability and Maintenance support to facilities in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.
Responsibilities:
- Work with leadership to promote reliability engineering principles and apply best work practices to drive defect elimination, optimize costs, and improve asset availability. Tools may include RCFA, Bad Actor Program, FMEA, etc.
- Serve as the primary change agent for reliability initiatives by fostering the adoption of continuous improvement practices.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues.
- Lead the cross-functional group in ongoing review of asset strategies for rotating equipment, such as PM/PdM program, lubrication program, operator rounds, condition monitoring programs, etc.
- Utilize QA/QC methodologies for corrective and preventative maintenance auditing to ensure accurate data capture for reliability analytics and reporting.
- Provide technical support for major overhauls and routine maintenance to ensure quality/precision repairs on critical rotating equipment.
- Troubleshoot rotating equipment problems through performance evaluation assessments and conduct RCFA investigations on failed equipment, develop action plans to eliminate repeat failures, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and assist with single point failure analysis and the recommendation of critical spare/redundant equipment purchases.
- Conduct, participate in, and support risk programs including, Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), HAZOPs, PHAs.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years prior experience in Rotating Equipment Engineering.
- 3+ years prior experience in Maintenance & Reliability in high hazard operations (Petrochemical, Refining, Oil & Gas, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with life cycle management including commissioning, steady state operation, asset re-rating/derating, decommissioning, and asset preservation.
- Experience with process & equipment operating parameters and failure modes.
- Vibration analyst certification preferred.
- Lubrication certification preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
Certification/Licenses:
- Vibration Analyst ISO Cat II/III preferred
- MLT I or MLA II preferred
Travel Requirements:
Travel will be required up to 25%.
